Ahhhh Sorry I'm late! Curiosity

Sorry I haven't been posting much guys! Work is a little crazy! Here's my quick sketch for curiosity!

Hey folks, we are now entering the last two weeks of our term and the holiday season! The Sketch Squad will be taking a short break until the New Year!

If you have drawings, feel free to post until then!

Good luck AM students! Happy holidays!

Kurious Kitty

I know the curiosity killed the cat cliche
is so common, but this drawing was inspired
by an actual event... so I couldn't resist.

Curious Curiosity.

Was thinking of something stereotypically related to cat curiousness, but the whole cat thing didn't work out...entirely. Probably because I can't draw cats...entirely.

Happy doodle'n! And maya-based walking! And/or otherwise drawing/animating in general!

Week 10 Challenge: Curiosity

This week's theme is...

Drawings are due Saturday, November 27th!

We will have no voting for next week's challenge, instead we're going to shake it up a bit with a American Golden Age Redesign challenge. Reimagine the cartoon characters of your choice from the Golden Age (1930's - 40's) in your own style! According to Wikipedia, a few of these include:
  • WB/MGM: Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Wile E. Coyote & Road Runner, Tom & Jerry
  • Disney: Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy
  • Fleisher: Popeye, Betty Boop, Superman
  • Sullivan: Felix the Cat
Good luck!

A take on evolution from the tech side of things,
also a good opportunity to use blend shapes to
try morphing objects.

Koi Dragon

The koi fish evolving to a dragon.
The koi fish in Japanese folklore represents the overcoming of obstacles, because the koi fish travels up the yellow river and when it comes to the end of the river it transforms into the dragon; thus overcoming the adversity represented by the strong river to fufill its own destiny.
The Koi is the symbol of strength and will, the will to go against odds to reach the destiny. And the Dragon is the power and ferocity. The mystery and Aura.

WK9- Evolution

My submission for the idea of 'Evolution', which I interpreted as the change of something over time and chose to show a progression of myself from a little girl to who I am now. I quickly gave it flat colors so it was more than just a simple sketch.

Evolving! Sort of...ish.

Not exactly so much critter-esque evolution. More of a thing/stuff evolution. Probably a bit off-point and/or a mild blend of other voting selections from last week. But a doodle nonetheless.

Happy doodle'n!

I love bunnies so I thought I would try one.... from krispy treats...

Above is my work in progress...

Here is the final piece.

My furry friend has been captured for stealing celery from a garden : )
(As you can see I had to modify the ears (the krispy treat ones were very tasty)

A Carrot's Nightmare

So I know that it's not entirely made of food, but it's what my mind first jumped to when I learned this weeks challenge...  I'm not sure what that says about me though, hahaha.

And yes, that is a Zefron poster on the wall.  I promised my Maya Springboard classmate Jay Fontano that I would put one in some future assignment, so this will have to do for now.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! The pupster and I are going as a Raven and a Bumblebee! She's not very happy about it though...

Happy Halloween everyone! I hope the Great Pumpkin brings you everything you wished for this year.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! So I had a thought about what would the Halloween town characters be for Halloween? Why toy story character of-course! So here you have it, my two favorite movies ever :D

Monster Mash!

He's playing one of my favorites songs ever: The Monster Mash!

Pumpkin Carving Plans

I don't know if this counts as a sketch, per se, but I drew it...just on a pumpkin. I'm going to work on carving it tomorrow. Anyways, for your consideration: THE GREEN GOBLIN!
Materials: Dry Erase Marker (huge help when planning a carving!)

The Legend of Sleepy, Hollow.

The headless horseman got tired of his usual flaming jack-o-lantern head, so he decided to switch things up one year.  It unfortunately did not incite as much fear as he had hoped...

Happy Halloween!

Pumpkin brim

...because I couldn't think up anything clever to say.

Happy End-of-October-Holiday, AMers!

Carven De Puumpkin!

When carving your pumpkin this year,
Don't go with the traditional Knife,
Or even the Medieval approach with a Battle Ax,
Nor the Modern Tactic of using a Chain Saw.

Uzen de uber BAZUUKEE!

Can't take full credit for this.
I saw it up on Youtube and just had to sketch it.

Have a Happy Halloween Everyone! And enjoy this clip from whence this image came.
Ben Eastman

Frankie and Friends

Yeah I draw and paint like a kid.

I kinda am starting to embrace it. :)

The Monster Who Eats Cookies

"People who can't draw in perspective ... shouldn't. This is what happens kids. This is how lives are ruined and you wind up on the street drawing tricks for crack. So put the three point perspective down and go play outside."

This has been a message from the council of "People who can't draw in perspective ... shouldn't."

P.S. - I have no idea what three point perspective is.

Yeeaaaah.... Not sure where this came from. I was thinking about monsters and thinking that I didn't feel like making one up, so then I was thinking about famous monsters; Frankenstein, Dracula, The Blob, etc.... And Rudolph popped into my head. So here you go. I suspect Tim Burton is largely responsible for this.

Roar, I say. Roar!

The funnest thing about monsters are, if you want, you can just throw any random thing on it and it'll still work out, sometimes moreso because of it. Here's two of my favorite random designs after a stream of consciousness doodling session!

Cheers to a Job Well Done.

So I've barely ever used watercolor I thought I would try it out!  With Sharpies!

Female monster

Unknown creature.
She rips apart every living thing she sees immediately and she can run at 80 mph.
Only weakness she has is a little spot in her left armpit. You need to hit that with a crowbar and than pull out her heart and stab it with a silver dagger to kill her. That's the only way.
Good luck!

Snoozy Chimera

I was so bummed I was traveling during the Cute Overload week so with POWERS COMBINED here's a sleepy Chimera, one of my favorite mythological monsters doing one of my favorite activities.

Keep up the great work guys!

Week 5 Challenge: Monster

Sorry no Spike doodle this week, he's too busy smashing Tokyo or something to make an appearance (that and I'm a bit busy traveling and getting ready for my first triathlon!). A much more forgiving challenge this round... This week's theme is...

Drawings are due Saturday, October 23rd!

Voting for next week's challenge is also open!

If you have any announcements you'd like to share with recruits, please email me ahead of time!
  • None this week!

Robot - Bear - Velociraptor Trap

This is pretty much my nightmare. The best I figure, the way to escape is use the Robot & Bear's natural mistrust of each other to my advantage. Perhaps I tell the bear the robot was showing around naked pictures of his wife. With the bear & robot occupied in a battle to the death the only thing left is the Velociraptor. The nice thing about that is I don't have to outrun the raptor, I only have to outrun you. (Always hike with a buddy!)

Worst Case Scenario

I had a hard time coming up with something for this week...So I just did something really quick in pen.  Enjoy!

Saturday, October 9, 2010

Week 4 Challenge: Worst Case Scenario

Welp, poop has hit the fan! This week's theme is...

Worst Case Scenario!

Drawings are due Saturday, October 16th!

Voting for next week's challenge is also open!

If you have any announcements you'd like to share with recruits, please email me ahead of time!

Cute Overload entry

Cupcake Microraptor

Cupcake Microraptor

Rest assured, he will only be satisfied with that cookie until the rest of his swarm shows up. Then they will rip you apart like a school of adorable land piranha.

Cute Overload

Just because it's cute and cuddly doesn't mean it's not dangerous.

Double Rainbow Unicorn Bear

Some powers of cuteness are best left lost.

Cute Overload. Literally.

The best way to stop evil killer robots is definately with kitties.

If you really want to overload killer robot with cuteness, you should just show them this.
